Moving Stillness

My abstract painting explores movement within the image, balancing control and release, stillness and dynamism. I investigate the tension between calm and movement, density and openness.

Working intuitively and process-driven, I create colour spaces through broad, gestural brushstrokes, transparent layers, concentrated colour fields and drawn lines. Controlled marks meet spontaneous interventions; surfaces are built up, painted over, revealed or deliberately left open.

At the centre is the relationship between quiet pictorial spaces and energetic areas of concentration. Light, open areas create room to breathe, allowing movement to linger and remain visible.

I draw inspiration from changing light, natural forms of movement, memories of landscapes and physical perception. The works remain deliberately open-ended, inviting associations with landscape, the body, inner states and weather phenomena.
